Namaste Pizza

Another pizza! And another kind of gluten-free and vegan crust. I think experimenting with new products is important when you have food allergies. You don’t want to stick with something you’ve got when new products come out every day–you might miss out!

I used Namaste Foods’ Gluten-Free Pizza Crust Mix for this pizza. There’s no yeast or waiting around for the dough to rise: you just mix the flour mix, water and oil together, spread it on an oiled cookie sheet, and bake for 20 minutes before adding the toppings.

While I found that the crust smelled really appetizing when I mixed and baked it, the flavor receded for some reason upon eating. The middle didn’t rise or bake as much as the edges. This crust was tasty, but admittedly not my favorite. I might use it again in the future, but I wouldn’t call it my go-to (or most impressive) pizza crust. If you want something quick and yeast-free, give this brand a try for yourself.

Ingredients (makes 2 pizzas, about 12 large slices)

1 bag Namaste Food’s Gluten-Free Pizza Crust Mix

1 red bell pepper

1 green bell pepper

1 can pineapple

1 can artichokes

tomato sauce

Vegan Gourmet or Daiya Vegan Cheese to top it off (optional)

Directions

1. Make the pizza crust according to the directions on the package. Bake crust alone for 20 minutes in an oven preheated to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Remove baked crust from the oven. Add toppings.

3. Replace in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, slightly longer if desired.

4. Take out of the oven and enjoy!

Tip: For a slightly crunchier or well-done crust, try heating in a frying pan for a few minutes.
